Amazon Kindle 2 is an outstanding reading device. I’m not sure how it stands compared to other ebook readers out there but reading on the Kindle gives a wonderful experience. I can safely keep my dictionary on the table and never bother to open it. Looking up a word takes navigating the cursor to that word and the definition unobtrusively visible on the bottom of the page. Most importantly you can stare at the screen for a very long time without feeling any eye strain.
It recognizes Mobipocket reader files and you can use notes/annotations on it. Reading PDFs is not a pleasant experience though. It renders pictures and everything perfectly but in order to make it readable you have to put it to landscape mode. Then it’s readable. Even if the PDF contains Unicode characters it renders them perfectly. A PDF with Sinhala Unicode characters renders wonderfully and to my surprise it was readable just like any other PDF.
Started off reading with a couple of Mills and Boon books after some stark comments on me not knowing this (ahem) holy-grail-of-romance-collection (who knew?!) – and it felt like several glorified foreplay sessions intertwined with a wayward drizzle of events. There, I said it
Your reviews are outstanding and always lead me in the right direction! Many thanks.
